The Romance is Missing!

There is much to be expected from a short story. In 20 to 80 pages, the author must develop a plot and bring it to an end. The author must create identifiable characters and make the reader want to see him/her/them through the event(s) of the story line. Often, leaps of faith or a disregard of reality is needed, because the low page count requires it.

Maybe I am wanting too much, but I almost got it all from this short story. Almost.

Erotic without romance is okay, but, guess what? I met and enjoyed Alexis and ended up wanting the romance for her. Intelligent, educated, reasonably moral with standards, I like Alexis. Sebastian, on the other hand, was no better than Mr. Williams!! Even if Alexis lustfully wanted Sebastian, he was no better than Mr. Williams taking advantage of her. And, Alexis calling herself "professional" (and NOT referring to "the oldest profession") is disappointing in light of her behavior! Out of character! Give us time and more story to mold her/their lustfullness into something more meaningful.

Ms Madigan, please pick up this story again and develop it into a complete story. Please! Give Sebastian a heart and let him sweep Alexis off her feet. Help Alexis get on her feet and be the strong independent woman that you know she is/can be.

I recommend this short story to those interested in being teased and left wanting to know how the story ends. If you do not like being left wanting more, being left is a cliffhanger of sorts, pass on this story and wait to see if Ms Madigan will finish what she began. I am waiting for the ending!!

Update: Just finished this story for the second time, as Ms Madigan has forwarded part 2 to me.... loved this just as much the second time and hurrying my way to part 2!!!… (mais)

Ohhhh! So Pretty Woman, even before I read that reference!!

Again, with a portion of the whole -- not the complete story. Not a cliff-hanger, per se, just a natural break before the story continues on.

If you've read and enjoyed the first part, you'll like this one, too. Unfortunately, Sebastian is still without heart and Henry's heart isn't enough for two to meld. Now, I need to wait, again, as patiently as possible for the next installment.
