Christian Malon

This catalogue places side by side in unforced conversation a selection of the sketches of rural Norman life, made mainly in his youth by Jean-François Millet, and photographs - some several decades old, some quite new - by Christian Malon: coincidence of line or shape or theme between these two genres make them both complete. The exhibition in St-Lo, a short way south of Caen, a friend of mine I would certainly have missed had not dismal rain cut short our earlier plans: and here this intelligent but unselfconscious choice of images remain on the page in quiet poise, a model of thoughtful observation and restraint.… (mais)
