Probably one of the most accessible resources explaining the very complex and convoluted capitalist "system". Mann not only explains capitalism as it developed and as it has functioned in recent years in terms anyone can readily understand, but provides insight into how capitalism adapts to its own flaws only to grow stronger. Paradoxically, however, capitalism has become its own worst enemy--by systematically destroying its own environment (planet Earth), it threatens to "take out" everything that has made capitalism work.

After some detailed explanation about the 2007 finance crisis that nearly buckled the global economy, Mann proposes that any reasonable alternative, "anticapitalism," will need more than just wishful thinking to dismantle this system without resorting to the kinds of totalitarianism experienced in Russia or China.

A realistic, if concerning, critique of the neoliberal economy (capitalism).
