Oh, John Marrs, how I love you! This book was so good! I couldn't not figure out if it was the daughter or the mother who was absolutely batshit. I kept going back and forth. It seems like the daughter, and then the mother, and then the daughter. It was just so good and some really amazing twists I didn't see coming, and a few I did see. SPOILER: I knew the father was killed early on, but I think by the time we get to learning about his murder, I still thought it was the mother who killed him. And I thought for sure the son would pull out in the they'd find him in the basement alive and he would be OK. But Mr. Marrs murders him too...this was a good one! I still love John Marr's speculative fiction better, but his other books are def a close second!… (mais)

I love John Marrs, but this one was not a favorite. It was fast paced, but I didn't love any of the characters. I'll continue reading his books though.

This book is intense! I enjoyed the point of view layout and the way the events were laid out. If you are a parent, it's likely gonna mess with you pretty bad. There are trigger warnings, so look those up to be prepared. Please read the prologue and epilogue as they are so important. The ending will either enrage you or help the story feel justified. I'm the latter. It's not an easy read if you like milder stories.

I had a ton of fun with this book. The chapters were short and super easy reading paced. There may have been a bit going on, but I really thrives in it.i tend to read up to 6 books at any time and the different character lines were well organized.
I enjoyed the power of persuasion being the driver for this plot. Most of society is so easily swayed this way and watching the chaos unfold was fantastical but close enough that I just rode that ride with ease. I could meander on a few of the understories, but I do t want to spoil for anyone having not read yet. I know a lot of readers focused on the killer and cop relationship, but damn that Hand That Rocked the Cradle vibe sub was frikken bonkers!… (mais)
