Susan Mayse

This is a readable novel, with the characters pretty well drawn, and a massive amount of research. I enjoy a trip to a medium sized kingdom, and following out all the relationships of the characters. There is dramatic use of Mercian Powys relations, and the violence is not jarringly graphic. I wish others would introduce themselves to this entertainment. The principal character is a poet-politician who may have created the Song of Heledd, a Welsh Masterpiece.
