Had an interesting storyline taking place in Jamaica, and great glimpse of two different character's perspectives in the book. However, it was hard to get through the dialect used in the book. The sensory details made the book come to life though. Dealt with topics of poverty, hunger, following in your family's footsteps, and overcoming hardships. Would be good for students in 5th-8th grade.
