This book wasn't what I expected, so maybe it's my fault I'm rating it so low. Meg and her two sisters have taken up bounty hunting to pay off a loan on their ranch. Forced to dress as a man, Meg only wants to become a dressmaker, but her nemesis Zach, the local sheriff, keeps stealing the last bounty they need. This idea for the story is good, but there was too much back and forth with each side stealing the bounty from the other (it turns out he's Zach's brother). So the story dragged. Neither Zach nor Meg were written as particularly appealing for me; both were too stubborn and their behavior with the other too inconsistent.… (mais)

Burnett Brides #2. Historical romance. Can be read as a stand-alone but know that the couple from the first book play a small part in this book.
After selling everything she owns, Elizabeth Anderson travels on a stagecoach as a mail order bride to the rugged Texas frontier. A robbery leaves her shot and destitute. Her only hope to make her arranged marriage work.

I appreciated Beth’s strength and determination but really hated her lack of options because of the time in history. I also didn’t like the “don’t deserve her attitude” from Tanner.
In the end it’s a romance, so they overcome the internal issues and get their HEA.… (mais)

Tucker is a spoiled brat who is also Marshal in Fort Worth. His mother is determined to find him a wife, just like she did for the other two sons (I think she's gotten more obnoxious as the series went on). Sarah is a doctor with a two-year-old son from a one-night fling with Tucker, but he doesn't realize. She's generally level-headed but puts up with a lot of nonsense from Tucker.
There's a lot of repetition in the writing. Sarah worries about Tucker finding out about his son and should she tell him or not. Tucker romanticizes about Sarah's passion in the moonlight and how he needs to be able to wander. The plot is formulaic with no suspense at all. This book was not for me.… (mais)
