Though Ironspark has many elements I love (fae, a Buffy-esque Scooby gang, secrets), the story wasn't quite what the cover copy led me to believe.
It's dark and angry and I never quite understood why her friends, especially the new guy in town, wanted to risk their lives to help Bryn. I also made the mistake of thinking this novel stood alone, which is absolutely not the case. No lesbian love triangle, no resolution... It just wasn't what I thought I was getting.
That said, the world-building was interesting and I liked many of the characters. Bryn herself has a fairly good arc and her angry propels the story forward.… (mais)

This book had me from the first paragraph. I love when books show fairies how they are - not the cuddly, cute types that you often see in fairy tales. At least, not all of them. Bryn is a brilliant heroine. She's up against dangerous odds, but she doesn't back down. The shadelings are adorable (although I'm not sure if I'd want to have them in my house). A great story with heart-racing action, tender moments, and little brothers that are at times eye-roll inducing. Perfect for fans of paranormal adventures and fairies that don't always play nice.… (mais)
