Stacy McKitrick

With being a blogger for Rust City Book Con, I want to read certain books so I can interview and interact with the authors that will be participating at the convention. The first book I chose to read was Ghostly Liaison by Stacy McKitrick. When it came time to read it I tried to see if I could read it as an eBook. When it comes to reading eBooks, it takes a certain type of book for me to be able to be able to read it in digital format. And this book was not an exception to that. When I started the sample, I was hooked by the second page.

The summary from Amazon.com says “Avoiding love is hard. Catching a killer can be fatal. . . When Rob's sister passed away, she left him her dog and her house. He can handle the dog part, but he doesn't need another home. Especially a fixer-upper the neighbor swears is haunted. Then he meets Bridget, who's working on getting her life back together after a car accident left her scarred in more ways than one. She can't pass up Rob's offer of free lodging, regardless of the shape it's in. Or the roommate that's part of the package. She's never believed in ghosts, but now she's living with one who wants Bridget's help in catching a killer. There's only one problem: the killer has unfinished business. . .”

I absolutely loved this book. So much so that I finished it within 36 hours. I started the book to do my duties as a blogger, but by the time I finished the book, I had fallen in love with the characters and the story. Throughout the book, the author switches between Bridget, Rob, and Charlie, but she does it in a way in which doesn’t confuse the reader. She makes it clear that there was a change in point of view with a page break. Bridget goes through a transformation throughout the book with the help of Rob. Rob refuses to give up on Bridget even when she kept pushing him away.

The character development in this book was phenomenal and I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a good romance book with paranormal mixed in. I will warn you that there are a few parts that will completely break your heart but it’s worth it in the end. There are twists and turns everywhere and is worth the day or two it will take to read.

Well, ok, this wll be one of those times where I keep it short and to the point.

I can't say I hated this book - completely. It was nice, I guess, with a nice male hero that I pitied more often than not. Yes, the main heroine was that infuriating. I understand the inferiority complex, but really, lady, have some mercy on the poor guy, will ya?

As for the rest of the book, no, just no. Charlie was super annoying and acted like a brat, and the mystery... Well, you see, it wasn't there. I'm serious, the reader finds out right from the prologue who the killer is, Charlie herself knows it, and the rest of the book is focused on Bridget trying to show her mom she's not gonna drop dead the next second, and to balance her mind between trying to keep Robert away fom her, and wishing that the rest of the female population - aka her slutty cousin - stays away from Robert...

Let's not forget Kate, too. Robert is her husband's best friend, and she knows he's no playboy, yet she keeps warning him to stay away from her cousin. For the first half of the book. Then she miraculously tries to play matchmaker. Again, what on earth?!

You think stupidity might run in the family or something? I'm starting to believe that....

I'm not picking up any other book from the series, and I'm really sorry I wasted my time on this one.
