Excellent book for anyone who wants to brush up on their basic computer knowledge. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to learn about desktop, laptop, tablet, or cell phones. It doesn't go into the nitty gritty details on a lot of things, but it'll leave you knowing more than you started with.

Not sure how well it'll help with the A certification though, as I haven't taken the test yet.

The "man in the box" analogy and the chummy personal vernacular is driving me nuts. First of all the analogy, I can appreciate that he wants to make explanation of the registers accessible, so briefly giving an analogy and then continuing on as though we are all basically functioning adults would be a plus. Instead I have to battle to figure out what he's actually talking about with cutesy language and cartoons. Then constantly describing the difference between users and techs and using the "you" voice feels uncomfortable.
More rant to come
Okay I finished this book. I switched to a different text because it was more depthful, yet concise. The Meyers book is a big favorite of a lot of people, and I appreciate the online quizzes. You probably can't go wrong with this book, but you are dealing with a lot of information, so depending on your learning style, you may appreciate a different style.

This is such a good book! It really sucks when you have to pretend to be somebody you’re not. Ashton is trying so hard to be Ms. Perfect. Everything has to go a certain way and she has to say certain things, or else people might get the wrong impression of her. She even has the super handsome and perfect boyfriend, Sawyer. The boy every girl dreams of being with and the one who never gets into trouble and just seems flawless. But then she begins to feel a bit bored with it all. She wants a little excitement in her life. When Sawyer leaves town for a while, Ashton begins to spend a lot of time with his cousin and her ex-friend Beau. She can’t help but feel this pull towards him. Beau isn’t really the type of guy a girl should get involved with, but that doesn’t stop Ashton’s feelings from growing. She’s known Beau and Sawyer since they were little, but never in a million years did she think she would look at Beau as more than a friend. They reminisce about the times when they were little, and soon things just get really hot and heavy between the two. And I mean hot and heavy! I loved this book! It was yet another book that kept me up all night until I read the last word. The characters are so much fun and very easy to fall in love with. From the very first page I knew I would love Ashton. She was very relatable and everything she went through, it was like I was going through it with her. My heart broke with her when she it came down to a decision. I think Abbi Glines did a great job piecing the story together. Everything flowed very smoothly and the outcome was just perfect! It was unpredictable and that is one of the things I loved most. One minute I thought I knew how things would go, the next it took a turn. It was also very touching at times. Not just with Ashton, but with Sawyer and Beau. They go through a lot because of Ashton’s mistake, but if it never happened then things wouldn’t have played out the way that it did. You definitely have to read to understand what I am talking about. The Vincent Boys is a story about friendships, family, trust, betrayal, and love. It has a bit of everything that will leave you craving more of the sexy Vincent boys. I loved it and recommend this book! 5 out of 5 Stars!… (mais)
