The usual cast of great characters. The plot is very complex with lots of twists and turns and includes more of Treehorn's backstory.

Another good plot: A dead woman with a stolen FBI badge and a note that says call John Treehorn brings the protagonist to a small oil town where he quickly discovers the murdered woman's case is tied to another investigation into a missing person. The case quickly becomes a chase for a serial killer. But is there only one? And is he the one who murdered the woman with badge and note? Lots os plot twists here, a little romance and some great supporting characters support a good plot. The book is a timely comment on missing Native American women and the real struggles of families to find their missing daughters and sisters.… (mais)

I literally could not put this book down! While her writing is a bit cliched in places, the characters were compelling and the plat even more so. Treehorn is an FBI agent who is half Navajo and half white. His home is on the reservation but he currently lives in DC and works from there. He is given a cold case to investigate when some new evidence comes to light. It requires his return to his home as well as a return to a past he would rather leave buried and forgotten. But it won't let him forget and the cold case not only brings him into contact with old friends and relatives, it also reopens old wounds. This character is, in many ways, too good to be true, but she gives him a haunted past and a blemished character that makes up for the first impressions that he is a white knight. As he investigates the murder of a white man and the sodomy of 4 boys who are camping on the reservation, he must confront bigotry and arrogance as well as wealth and power, and a seemingly disconnected case on the east coast. Can he tie the threads together and bring justice to those who have been victimized? It is a disturbing mystery and a compelling read.… (mais)

A very exhaustive look at all sides of the argument about involuntary commitment. Definitely worth a read if mental illness is a topic that you are interested in.
