In 1859, the Origin of Species was first published. Darwin presented facts collected from a world voyage to show that species are mutable, and that natural selection made these mutations intelligible. The editor of this volume collected 11 articles by scholars writing to compass the exact import of the theory of evolution, and to re-examine "scriptural data" (?) relevant to questions of origin and biological development.
