DNF @ Page 176. Just lost interest, though I like John Moe's writing style.

I don't think it was the author's intent, but he made depression sound like such a singular type of illness, that most people experience in the same way, and treat more or less identically. At times it almost came across as judgmental. It took away from what was an otherwise poignant and well-written memoir.

There were so many times that I just stared at the page thinking: YES. THAT IS EXACTLY IT. I also really enjoyed his sense of humor and music references. I have not listened to this podcast but that will be immediately remedied.

I think that major depressive disorder is very different for each person, but this book is from the point of view of a white man. He's also a white man who is married to a stable white woman, who gave him support about his illness. His experience is very different from mine: a white woman . My experience is very different from that of a brown or black woman, with major depressive disorder. This makes all the difference in the world.
