For a book published in 2002 this feels more dated than several of the older Bond volumes it references.

Purporting to be a history of James Bond it is focused primarily on the Fleming novels and the EON produced movies up to the start of production of Die Another Day and only gives passing mentions, or in some cases ignores entirely, significant other contributions to the 007 mythos. A few incidents stated as facts have in later years been shown to be incorrect, and the occasional mis-use of terminology did make me question the veracity of some of what was presented.

One thing that struck me was the frequent heavy handed editorializing, and even occasional political posturing, throughout the text that seems out of place in a popular history. We have a couple of other biographies by the same authors and I don’t recall that being the case with those books.… (mais)
