The mystery and secrets kept me interested. How things were going to turn out once we knew kept me interested. Yet ... it did not end in a way that makes me recommend this book. And what was the meaning of the Tess storyline? There was no way to get Connor into the book without that? I don't know ... didn't fit for me. And getting away with murder? Not my cup of tea. Yes, I know, it wasn't really, but even the tidying up with all the lame "what ifs" was a put off for me.

This is my second Liane Moriarty book to read. I was worried that my love of [b:What Alice Forgot|6469165|What Alice Forgot|Liane Moriarty|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1377159022s/6469165.jpg|6659752] would cause me to be disappointed with this one, but I am very happy to say that I loved this one, too. It's official: Moriarty is one of my new favorite authors.

I loved the smorgasbord of characters in this book. I love her dry, sarcastic humor, and how her characters are incredibly relatable. Though each of them had different strengths and weaknesses, I was able to identify with aspects of each of their personalities.

Her writing seems so effortless, yet the story is so intricately woven together. I kept re-working my hypothesis in my head, trying to figure out where the story was going, and I really like that I didn't figure it out correctly.

I'm looking forward to reading [b:The Husband's Secret|17802724|The Husband's Secret|Liane Moriarty|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1460577225s/17802724.jpg|23986788] next!

My third and least favorite Liane Moriarty book to read. I did like it enough to give it four stars, but I'm not surprised that this is the one being made into a movie, considering there's more sex and swearing in this one.

That said, I still love the way the author writes her characters. Many writers only know how to write the "almost perfect" protagonist, so it's refreshing that Moriarty's skills go beyond this! I often see either myself or people I know in their personalities. Though the events in the book are rather dramatic, the characters' thoughts and reactions are relatable.… (mais)

This is one of the best books I have read in a long time. I absolutely loved it. Liane Moriarty's writing is so wonderfully real. The book is told mainly from Alice's perspective, but also from the perspectives of her sister, Elisabeth, and their pseudo-adoptive grandmother, Frannie. I could really relate to many of Alice's and Elisabeth's moments. Every other page I was thinking, "That is exactly what I would have said..." And the emotions were so authentic and raw, that I found myself thinking about my relationship with my own sister, "That's going to be Jill and me in ten years... how sad."

I found myself examining choices I've made and thinking about what I'll do in the next ten years. If I were to hit my head and realize I'm 10 years older, would I be disappointed with where I'd ended up? I laughed frequently throughout this book, and also felt such intense sadness at times. It truly is a remarkable read. In fact, I plan on recommending it to my sister when I see her this weekend... I think this one would be great for a book club read!

I stayed up at least two and a half hours past my bedtime (ha!) because I just had to know how it ended, and now that I do, I'm not sure it's one I would read again... but then again, it was so darn good that I just might.

(For the very conservative readers out there, it's probably worth mentioning that there is a bit of language, although I personally feel that it was used appropriately.)
