DNF, bailed at 53%:

This book was bothering me anyway, primarily because the heroine's a flighty distrustful contradictory person without enough redeeming qualities to make her charming at all. But, I might have finished this story anyway - until he spanks her without enough warning or explicit permission. I'm not into it and it startled me, but really it was just the last thing I needed to push me away. If the author had flipped this script, made him this annoying flighty person and her the cop, it might have appealed to me. Why is it always the woman who acts like this? If romances are for us, why give us annoying heroines?… (mais)

Predictable love story. Easy read but I much prefer the “went to bedroom” and shut the door other than play by play in the bedroom. I want a good story not erotica.

Kat Williamson returned to Heron's Landing to help her dying grandmother who was suffering from dementia. A computer programmer by trade, she is currently teaching computer skills to elementary school kids.

Now divorced, Gavin Danvers returns to Heron Landing with his daughter trying to recover and heal after trying for years to help his wife manage her bi-polar disorder. Both he and his daughter are still suffering from the repercussions.

Kat and Gavin are both wounded souls, but Kat seems to have dealt much better with her losses, while Gavin and his daughter are still very troubled. The attraction is clear but Gavin let's his head get in the way of his heart, when Kat's stalker threatens her it throws them together and things start to heat up.

This is a sweet, small town romance, showing how mental illness affects relationships and children, with a splash of danger when a stalker targets Kat.

I loved the concept of this and got a huge kick out of all the flower puns. What's not to love about florist erotica? My only beef with it, is the same beef I have with nearly all erotica. So much of it is so damn unbelievable. A 26 year old virgin has the most orgasmic sex of her life and is suddenly the most horny sex goddess in the world! She picks up on everything INSTANTLY! Other than that, I didn't hate the plot. A cute, quirky girl who runs her parent's flower shop runs into the boy who stood her up for prom and now he's working at his parent's RIVAL FLOWER SHOP! Duh duh duh. Obviously sparks fly! She loses her virginity! She makes beautiful flower arrangements! Her judgmental cat decides she likes him! There is a misunderstanding! All the usual tropes, with more humor and candor than most. I think I'm just cynical; there wasn't really anything wrong with this erotica; maybe I just need to take a breather and go back to true crime for a while.… (mais)
