Soccer is a popular sport with young people all over the world. It is easy to play, it does not involved expensive equipment, it does not require special place for a game, just enough room to kick around the ball. A scoccer player has to be able to control the ball, pass it to a teammate, send it toward the goal, or get it away from a player on the other team.
The game of scoccer is no longer played just by men. A worldwide study by FIFA, the govening body of soccer, shows that 26 millon women and girls now play soccer around the grove.

Manchester United Football Club goes back to the year 1878. The original name of the team was not Manchester United but Newton Health LYR. A group of men who work at the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway yards in Manchester got together to form the team (See p 34)
