R.F. Mould has been involved with the investigation of Chernobyl since August 1986, and he has put together an impressively comprehensive book about his experiences. He has included both 'official' and personal accounts, pictures, and analysis of all of the consequences of probably the most infamous nuclear disaster ever

This book gave me the creeps in parts, honestly. I'm too young to have witnessed Chernobyl firsthand, but the way that Mould depicts the accident, it seems like there was so much negligence from so many people. This shouldn't have happened, and it's chilling how much citizens were affected - forced evacuation within a day of the accident, extraordinarily high levels of cancer and birth defects, not to mention the psychological traumas.

Mould makes an interesting decision to close the book with a section on the culture of the area, pre-Chernobyl. And that last part of the book stands as testimony to a culture which abruptly ceased to exist one April day in 1986, even though people are still affected by the Chernobyl disaster now
