Well illustrated but with a European emphasis, the author considers photography under eleven major categories that do provoke useful thought about the nature of the medium.
I was first introduced to Jan Saudek's work when I was 15 years old and I have been in love with it ever since. He was forced to work out of his basement to evade censors and police. His images are beautifully hand-colored and he likes to photograph the same models in the same set ups over several years to show how we change and remain the same throughout our lives. Jan Saudek is een Tsjechische fotograaf, die vooral bekend is door zijn erotische, provocerende foto's. Hij fotografeert meestal in Zwartwit, kleurt zijn foto's naderhand in en dateert ze alsof ze een eeuw oud zijn. Dit boek geeft een fascinerend overzicht, ik vind het een van de mooiste fotoboeken die ik ken, maar ik kan me voorstellen dat er mensen zijn die er van gruwen.… (mais)
