This is an excellent review of the role of the CIA before 9/11, during 9/11 and after in the war on terrorism. In particular, the author discusses the pressure this agency felt in preventing another attack on America soil coupled with how little everyone knew about the enemy, as well as how these factors helped create "The Program," the secret detention sites where questionable tactics were used to obtain information from captives. He also discusses how political and public sentiment went from all out support for whatever it takes to questioning these tactics based on American standards, as well as the effect it had on the CIA.
