Dr. Garth Mundinger-Klow

Mundinger-Klow writes erotica in the style of 'case studies', following his predecessors Gerda Mundinger and Gunther Klow, dealing with a broad spectrum of sexual preferences which tend towards the pathological. Case studies are essentially short erotic stories, and it is left to the reader to judge just how fictional they might be. This book is concerned with 'men who desire early teenage girls', the word 'early' being perhaps best defined by the fact that many of the male subjects admit to prison terms as the conclusion of their tales. As with all erotica dealing with the 'wilder shores', a reader's interest depends very much on the nature of the preference. I must say, trying not to be judgemental, that this one was not for me. This is one of a collection of so-called 'case studies' in the field of sexology, weakly shadowing the 'cases' reported by his predecessors Mundinger and Klow about forty years before. The veracity of the cases described by all of these authors remains highly doubtful, although the minimal eroticism of these later works, bordering on the humdrum, makes them seem somehow more credible. 'More that Kissing Cousins' is a collection of ten stories, purportedly exposing the eroticism of incest in the explorations of young people of both sexes. However, with the possible exception of rather backward attitudes in parts of the USA, the erotic charge associated with cousins is, these days, quite minor, and the tales report what I would consider to be quite acceptable explorations of the sexuality of early teenagers in this regard. If there remains any taboo, it must surely relate to the immaturity of those concerned, often such as to be legally discouraged. Weak erotica, attractive only for those attracted to such circumstances.… (mais)

Mundinger-Klow never seems to live up to the erotic standards set by his (supposed) parents Gerda Mundinger and Guenther Klow, although he has chosen the same literary format, that of sexology case studies. This format results in short stories, mostly relating early erotic experiences, grouped according to the particular circumstances of the encounters, and usually involving some specific variation or fetish behaviour. This collection of nine short stories concerns aunt-nephew scenarios and consenting adults, these days considered only marginally infringing the incest taboo. I even missed the justification for the adjective 'nasty'. The tales as fairly well written, although they are rather limited in their variation, and proofread in a slapdash way, but they come nowhere near the inventiveness of the author's supposed antecedents.… (mais)

It is indicated in this book that Mundinger-Klow is the son of Gerda Mundinger and Guenther Klow, although there have been suggestions that both of these highly accomplished authors of 'case studies' are pseudonyms of Paul Little. Whatever is the case, Mundinger-Klow has none of the style or facility in writing erotic literature possessed by his putative parents. 'Tortured Red Bottoms' is more overtly fictional than sexological, and its 14 short stories only marginally describe situations of erotic chastisement. In fact, I found the stories to be distinctly lacking in erotic atmosphere, whether or not chastisement is involved. Red bottoms are actually strangely rare in a book that bears a title such as this one. Indeed, the longest of the stories, 'The case of the man who spanked the office girl', does not, in its 47 pages, contain any spanking whatever; it deals with a barely requited leg fetish with overtones of female domination. A reader might desperately want the female to be thoroughly chastised, but this simply never happens, and this absence is merely the most extreme irritation contained in the stories that comprise the volume. No warning of this shortcoming is present in the (somewhat misleading) cover material, and for me the shortcoming makes the book a failure. True, the stories are well written, and certainly not run-of-the-mill, but a potential reader needs to appreciate that its value fails to justify the title or the cover description.… (mais)
