This volume is an invaluable resource for teachers of children with disabilities. However, it could also be helpful for any teacher who wishes to more effectively teach material that is sometimes difficult for the average child.

There are specific sections on effectively teaching reading, math, and writing. There are sections that address all kinds of learners and children of various cultural backgrounds. This volume covers everything you need from how to use technology to more effectively teach the curriculum ,to how to improve students’ memory, as well as how to reinforce positive behavior. This text goes on to effective collaboration and co-teaching, how to monitor progress toward goals, and early childhood inclusion
as well.

What makes this book special is the way that it is organized. Each section includes a list of bulleted “dos” and “don’ts” that could prove very helpful to teachers. There are “Plugged In” boxes that give helpful websites that provide more information on that topic. Helpful graphic organizers are also included in each section. Little boxes called “Key Concepts”, summarize important paragraphs. “Making Connections” boxes list helpful references to other chapters in the text. There are reading lists for extended learning. At the end of each chapter, there is a list of “Additional Recommended Reading”, websites that offer support, and “Apps We Love” that pertain to each topic.

As you can see, this is an extensive volume filled with helpful information. It is also very well organized and extremely “user friendly”. It is an invaluable reference book for teachers.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an unbiased review.
