This was a really quick read. I liked the concept of it, but wish it was longer so some things could've been explained better.

Well, that was interesting? I actually liked the non-sci-fi/fantasy parts more than the plot about the android angels. I enjoyed Yuina's narrative and the art is lovely, but I feel like this would have worked better if the page count was higher. I have to wonder what limitations Aoi Nanase was under and how the story would have fared as a 300 page volume or even as two volumes; it would have given the story a lot more room for worldbuilding. Apparently there's a sequel, so I might track it down!

The plot is jumpy, lots of things are told or summarized rather than shown, and the sometimes abrupt transitions jerk around more like an outline than a fleshed-out story. The major characters are flat, with sometimes irrational and inconsistent motivations and unbelievable actions, again because of telling, not showing, and some of the minor characters are barely sketched in. The resolution is vague, the backstory equally so, and a lot is just not explained (Yuina's "dream sequence" in the beginning, for example). The art is generally decent, with occasional high points and occasional cartoony bits and odd photograph backgrounds.

That said? Like Marion Zimmer Bradley's Lythande (which on a recent reread I discovered contains some beliefs I really disagree with), it's something of a guilty pleasure for me. I read this several years ago online, in a fan translation of questionable legality, and had no idea that an official English edition had been published until I stumbled upon it in a used bookstore. The story is pure wish-fulfillment: a teen girl with critically low self-esteem and a bad family situation meets an android "angel" who's a friend (and crush) to her, aids said angel in a battle against a renegade angel, and in the process learns to believe in herself.

It might be fluff, and not really that good, but I enjoyed it and am glad to own a copy. Wish-fulfillment isn't always a bad thing.

A sort of sequel to the sci-fi/fantasy manga Angel Dust, we never quite figure out where this lands time-wise. The two manga could be before, after or simultaneous to each other considering we are working with a similar theory but completely different characters. In Neo Akito gets to live out a teenage boys dream when fate names him as the chosen one and three beautiful teenage girls (who happen to have wings) all arrive in his life wishing to make a "contract" with him.

It is a cute little tale with nice illustrations brought down by the fact that there is no clear beginning or ending to the story.… (mais)
