About the Author

Siobhan Nash-Marshall holds the Mary Clark Chair of Christian Philosophy at Manhattanville College. Author of many academic books and articles on metaphysics and the problem of evil, she has also written books and articles for the general public-Joan of Arc: A Spiritual Biography and What it Takes mostrar mais to be Free: Religion and the Roots of Democracy. In recent years, Nash-Marshall has devoted a lot of attention to genocide and genocide negationism. The Sins of the Fathers is her first book-length treatment of the topic. Nel 1915 il governo dell'Impero Ottomano cominciò a scacciare gli armeni dalle terre dove i loro antenati avevano vissuto da tempi immemorabili. Gli uomini furono uccisi; donne, vecchi e bambini furono deportati nella parte più inospitale del deserto siriano, del tutto inadatta al vivere umano. Ma la pulizia etnica nell'Armenia occidentale era solo una parte del progetto dei Giovani Turchi per l'intera Anatolia. Lo scopo finale era in realtà di trasformare quelle terre nella «terra avita del popolo turco» (il cosiddetto vatan), un luogo dove la cultura, l'economia e la gente fossero tutti turchi. Questo progetto fu attuato su larga scala in ogni direzione, con impressionante determinazione e violenza.
