This was okay. Enjoyed the premise, but I’m not a fan of ancient history. Also, even if a person could do what the main character does, I doubt they would end up in so many historic moments.

Never did I imagine a book about ghosts would have so much heart to it. I was immediately enthralled with the story. I laughed at portions (two ghosts throwing vases at each other) and cried at others. I truly loved this book!

For those who are reluctant to read it because it’s, well… ghosts…the first encounter was a bit scary and creepy. But after that first surprise, I wasn’t freaked out anymore.

When Ruby Baxter, the town historian of Franklin TN, is introduced to newcomers Jake and Mallory Winter she has no idea how her life is about to change. The Winters have bought the historic Bennett House, and Mallory has decorated it with a variety of antique mirrors. But unknown to Mallory, there are souls trapped in those mirrors and they are making themselves known. When asked to help the Winters, Ruby discovers that she has the ability to connect with the ghosts in the mirrors. She hears their stories and asks how she can help them find peace. This is the heart of the book.

The basis for this story is the legend that mirrors were to be covered when someone died to prevent the soul from being trapped in the mirrors. Every few chapters, Nash includes portions of accounts of the true events that took place in the Battle of Franklin, also known as the Five Bloodiest Hours of the American Civil War.

This was the perfect mix of historical Franklin’s houses and contemporary Franklin’s quaint downtown. After reading this book I am sure many of you will want to visit Franklin.

I highly recommend this book. One of my favorite books this year. I received an advance copy of this book. All opinions expressed here are entirely my own.

It's quite intriguing in the way that it opens some paths not fully developed, I suppose it will be done in following books. Apart from the fact that the main character, Shelby, is never very far away from some wine, we witness her awakening as a Traveler. By the way, Montecadoes do not exist, the real name for these 'cookies' is Mantecados.

I loved this book! It is a mix of current day and historical fiction. It takes place in a bunch of different locations and they were so well described I felt like I'd been on a trip. The mix of "reality" and magic/myths was fun too.
