I don't know if it was the PMS or the longing for wanting to be a baker but this book almost made me cry TWICE! It's so wonderfully written so be sure to read it from front to back. I can't wait to try out tons of the recipes!
Very pretty, but I probably won't make many of the recipes.
I haven't made anything yet (I know, I know!), but everything in here looks gorgeous and delicious. I would think about buying this eventually.
Really good, fairly original recipes. I like Nathan's approach to baking, such as her frequent use of the salty/sweet combination and her sometimes surprising use of brown sugar where white would traditionally be used.
The off-putting thing about this cookbook, though, is the 'filler' writing. Nathan comes off as a huge jerk, an unrepentant prima donna verbally abusing everyone who doesn't meet her unrealistic standards. If she was trying to be funny, she missed by a mile. If that's who she really is, I'm glad I have this book so that I don't have to go to her restaurant.… (mais)
