A bit dry in places as academic works tend to be, but overall a worthwhile study of how to use theater as an educational tool to discuss and examine sociological issues. As well as a means of furthering social justice.

Surprised me in places and was quite moving and informative in others.

The book provides an in-depth history of the Canadian "Mirror Theater" project - an experimental theater project that examined social issues through the act of play-building and improvizational theater workshops. It includes several theater scripts as examples. And describes how each play was built, and how the play was used to teach and examine each issue. Also the results of performing the play for various types of audiences.
