At the Meryton Assembly Elizabeth does not hear the insult from Darcy. How does that change their relationship, especially when Jane has an accident on the way to Netherfield.
Overall an enjoyable story though at times there was too much introspection from Darcy and Elizabeth for my taste.
For me the book was saved by the appearance and actions of Colonel Fitzwilliam. Much more than in canon

This book was a lot of fun and the author did a good job of bringing all the characters to life in this retelling of Pride and Prejudice. I especially love Colonel Fitzwilliam and thought the author did a good job of writing him so we could see both his serious and playful sides. I loved seeing the relationship between Elizabeth and Darcy develop throughout this book and hope to read the next book in this series soon.

an interesting, reimagining of Austen's Pride and Prejudice - one where Elizabeth doesn't hear Mr. Darcy's insulting remarks at the first ball. I think the author did a good job of capturing the overall feel of Austen's work even if she did tinker with storyline quite a bit. I would have preferred a different ending for Elizabeth and Darcy, but I have to admit that the one chosen was a logical one given the difference in their social circles.
