Fardan sets for Mexico to rescue Angelina Grant who has been kidnapped and held for ransom. Along with Fardan are four other men who share his experience in and knowledge of Mexico at the start of the 20th Century and its revolutionary chaos. A small army of five that is armed and organized faces a Mexican army of bandits and cutthroats numbering over 200 but perseveres through organization and planning despite being misled about the lady's motives. This is a gripping, fast moving novel.

An excellent story of the making of a company and their first testing in battle. The company is fortunate to have a commander of competence and character who leads them through training beginning in December of 1941 and then leads them in battle in North Africa the following year. Interesting interplay between commander and men showing how respect and loyalty are earned.
