Undercover cop Jake Campbell needs his latest assignment to work out since he messed up so bad on the one, but after his partner unexpectedly leaves for family troubles, Jake has no other choice but to continue the op without him. Going undercover as a prep chef in a five-star restaurant/hotel, he believes someone at the restaurant is dealing a highly lethal designer drug, and he soon runs afoul with one of the head chefs.
Abigail Duncan doesn’t like the cocky new man in her kitchen, but that doesn’t stop her surprising attraction to him. She has a rule, though: no dating co-workers. But after a few of her employees start overdosing on drugs, she’s pulled into a nightmare she never expected, and she begins to realize Jake is much more than he seems.
Jake is totally swoothworthy, and Abbie is one smart, tough woman. They’re awesome characters with lots of chemistry. The attraction between them is immediate, but they get to know one another before things heat up.
The novella is well written without any typos that I noticed, and I enjoyed the author’s writing style. For a sexy, fast-paced police investigative romance, this is a great book to read.

Shea MacNamara's life just got complicated. When a freak tornado devastates his Oklahoma farm, fifteen-year-old Shea moves to Cape Cod to live with a grandmother he's never met. Struggling to make sense of his new surroundings, he meets a girl along the shore who changes his life.

Forever.

Kae belongs to an undersea world hidden from humans, where bloody war rages between opposing clans. A fragile peace accord hinges on marriage between the royal families, but treachery and magick lurk in every shadow.

With Kae's help, Shea discovers his true heritage and finds that his destiny lies somewhere far below the ocean's surface.
My only experience with mermaids was Disney so I thought it’d be interesting to try this out since it seemed Katie O’Sullivan created an intriguing premise. She writes with a sense of beauty and vivid detail so you feel as if you’re actually walking around the Cape along with seeing the colorful ocean life flow before your eyes.

It’s a speedy plot with well-developed characters, it’s definitely the kind of book teens and middle school students will enjoy. So many books are told from the female perspective or female centered it was interesting to read one in this genre and with this storyline that had a male central character.

There’s plenty of dirty politics, intrigue, drama, fantasy, mystery, betrayal and just a bit of romance to keep things interesting; this novel was the whole package. It’s just the right book to get your kid to read this summer and you’ll enjoy it too. Even better it’s the first in a new series so there will be more to come.

Received an ARC for my fair review for netgalley. Well it was not my favorite book, and one of the reasons is because I can't believe that Emma was truly this gullible. You have your family, friends, and people you meet and they all warn you that the guy you are spending time with is part of the mob, and you keep telling yourself "no it can't be" please.. Then we have Chase, who is instantly attracted to Emma, and wants to spend more time with her, even though you think she has a mobster boyfriend. Yeah, not buying it, after only meeting her a couple of days, you are putting your life, your reputation, and your coworkers lives at stake, because you are truly in love, even though she keep telling you, mobster is not boyfriend, you still think he is..… (mais)

A middle grades/younger YA novel with a boy MC who discovers he is the son of a mermaid. Good plot, ideas, and underwater setting. The dialogue is more tween than teen. There are some opportunities for more development in the next book (there's a couple of holes in the story), but overall a fun novel with a different take on sires of the sea. Love the new cover!
