Plot:
The story of a fiendish character who always look for the opportunity to destroy anyone and anything for the sake of his growth and happiness. He encounters a widow and plans to fool around and play his game. He encounters a girl Pihu in his journey of betraying the widow and starts to get close to him. Well, read this heart-touching story ‘A girl to remember’ by Ajay K Pandey

What I like:
1. The plot of the story is good and the characterization is very well done.
2. The character of Pihu will fill your heart with great pleasure and happiness and gives us confidence that she will turn the story of Neel.

What I didn’t like:
The narration could be more interesting as the plot is nice. The gripping scene designing could be done as in the middle of the story, the readers lose track of it.

Narration:
The narration is done in a good way and it could be more interesting and enthusiastic.

Language & Grammar:
A clear language with neat and uncomplicated grammar is used in the book

My Final Verdict:
A one time read for all kind of readers and the character of Pihu brought life to the story.

It's not a love story. It is a detailed character study of a dark moralled man pushed into emotional boundaries which he didn't know existed.

A small book, fast read and has some interesting lessons.

The impressive part of the book is how the protagonist doesn't evolve overnight but gradually. It's his POV. Side characters are also quite interesting with 3 of them getting a POV chapter each. But, ultimately it's about Neel.

The first-half sets up the environment, characters and their relations. Second-half is straight up unputdownable read filled with the introduction of the dilemma, believable twists, and heartbreaking character reactions. Also, there are some low-key funny moments.
Definitely worth the read.

It was a surprise to see 4.9-ish rating on amazon.in for Indian English novel which from face of it appeared to be from one of many wannabe Chetan Bhagat authors who have suddenly sprung into existence after overnight success of Chetan Bhagat. My going in belief was shattered in second page of book. For first half, story followed cliched college romance, hackneyed dialogues, and non-humourous attempts at humour. As is usual with early writers, there was no nuance, subtlety or surrealism in the content or writing and story was nothing more than collections of cheesy dialogues cheesily presented and garnished even there. That aside, novel was decent enough to continue reading, short enough to move fast, and fast enough to not bore you, even if nothing of substance comes.

Story takes a turn post half though. Nothing really changes in the presentation per se, but details around worsening disease and emotional web around wife's death are well spun. While I was reading this, I did feel with the author's pain, more so because I could imagine the pain were it me.

Last few chapters tried to spin the tragic event into author's transformation into better man but failed to show real transformation. I am going to be harsh but if he continued his corporate job, started thinking about second marriage within a year, and lesson in empathy was limited to weekend visits to orphanage then I don't see any meaningful change at all. Nor did transformation struck as anything unusual and one can imaging anyone in same position doing same thing. That's not necessarily the bad thing until author puts on holier than thou attitude about his coping with the loss.

As aside, few days after finishing the book I happened to listen to an 'motivational speaker' who survived the very disease: dengue related muti-organ failure, and as is customary for such speakers, she attributed her survival and upbeat attitude to her "will" and "outlook" and "I chose to fly". In back of my mind, I was comparing two incidences and was aghast at role of luck, and human tendency to credit herself and not luck in realizing very different outcome in very similar situation. That xkcd published comic on same irony (https://m.xkcd.com/1827/) was also another coincidence.
