The Torrents of War por Igor Sentjurc
A novel about a German Army medical doctor in service on the Eastern Front.
One of my favorite novels about the Eastern Front. It involves a German medical doctor who goes to fight in the Wehrmacht on the Eastern Front in Russia. Here he fulfills his duties, becomes involved in a struggle with a NCO, ultimately is wounded in action and then serves in Germany on the Home Front where he falls in love. After this he returns to serve on the battle front during the final battles of 1945.
The writing is crisp, with the correct military details, and a realistic depiction of the German army. The writing is on par with Willy Heinrich, who wrote "The Cross of Iron".
The author originally came from Yugoslavia and was a partisan in WWII.… (mais)
