A boy named Rain that Dances goes upon a mountain and finds a eagle. As he gets closer to the eagle, he wonders if it is hurt because it is not flying away. He asks the eagle, "What is wrong?" and the eagle replies that he is sad, because the people are just not like they used to be, like Rain that Dances, ancestors. They do not seem to eat as well, there is all this sickness that shouldn't be. So Rain that Dances promises the eagle that he is going to go and teach his people to be healthy again.

This was a amazing book. I loved how it dealt with problems that the eagle sees everyday because he flys and has the world underneath them.

Children can illustrate how the eagle might look, and then compare it to the story. Using paint, colored pencils and even crayons to demonstrate the colors and realness of the Eagle. Children could also visit a Native American Museum, and look at all the authnicity of the culture.
