As a prelude/companion to the new movie and new comic series, Marvel released this one-shot comic summing up the god Thor’s superheroic adventures in the Marvel Universe thus far. From Stan Lee and Jack Kirby on, this comic quickly sums up various storylines in Thor’s history, complete with illustrations pulled from throughout that history. In a way, it was a good prep for me before going to see the movie as I knew little on Thor in general and nothing on Marvel’s version of Thor. But it didn’t encourage me to read the new comic series on Thor as I found the storylines cheesy and ridiculous, although maybe this is just a problem that occurs when decades of works are summed up in a slim volume. Overall, an interesting concept and a good way to break into an ongoing series, but I personally did not find the character or his woes and victories appealing.… (mais)
