I read this often in elementary school. I thought it'd be sinister due to the title, and wound up giggling and getting ideas from it. I never used them. As an adult, I regard this as magical realism bordering on high fantasy, and an utterly ridiculous read. I mean this fondly. I smiled from ear to ear and even still giggled. It's a quick, silly read, and still fun. I liked the kids' futures through the door, the ending, and how Ms Merriweather held the book together. Sometimes as a kid, I wanted to be her.… (mais)

I loved this book as a kid and still enjoyed it now. Mr. Finelli ends up with the worse children in the school for his class. He is a completely unconventional teacher with unexpected teaching habits. Every time his class tries to pull a prank on him, he counters and overcomes. But when the children are least expecting it, he comes to their aid and sticks up for them. The story is very much a juvenile literature piece. But the antics that the class gets into to try and prank the teacher and the way Mr. Finelli deals with their misbehavior will have you laughing until the end of the book.… (mais)
