Not her best work. The last of the Eddie Brown spy spoofs, our less than ideal hero finds himself sent to Austria to deliver a package and goes to the wrong address (transposition!) . Of course he happens to find himself with the gang about to kidnap his boss's daughter, who just happens to be in Austria learning Russian. Fair enough start for this sort of thing, Eddie gets wrapped up too close with the daughter, then being seduced by an aging Italian beauty- a lead in to his capture by the devilish Russians before finally being rescued by the evil goon, Westhartpool Joe .... finally a few car crashes later, Eddie and the daughter - closer than ever!- are dumped back into cozy England where Eddie is cornered into wedding the darling daughter. As i said, not her best..... but funny and ribald.… (mais)

2nd of Joyce Porter's Eddie Brown spy books. This one finds him in Paris at a weird old fancy chateau with secrets. Meets up with a sympathetic russian spy that he has to team up with and an underweight but voracious young lady to find out what the russian emigres are up to in the locked room! Turns out it is a nefarious plot to blow up much of the world! (by poisoning embassies all over and thereby setting off nuclear war among the super powers). This would leave our weird russian emigres to move in and take over. Very entertaining- funnier (buy sillier) than Dover- which is saying a lot.… (mais)

Another Eddie Brown adventure - the 3rd, so i only have one left. Another ripping yarn, but yes, the jokes been had before and this doesn't really turn over new comedic themes. Eddie is sent to Russia, to a religious outpost and is required to get a bawdy woman pregnant in jail because otherwise she might be executed for murdering one of her lovers and if that happens, she will pull the plug on the religious commune. Whew! yes, it is all that... good clean Russian and sex humor throughout. He winds up hiding underground with the sex crazy lady (they broke her out of prison finally) and so he has lots of time on his hands (ala the other 2 books) so he decides to.... write a book. Yes, that part is pretty great. Chock full of culturally inappropriate language and caricature- so beware.… (mais)
