OH, WOW! This is why I miss the non-fiction/self-help genre so much! I have needed this book for a very long time. I have been so dissatisfied with my life, wondering what I was doing wrong. This book gave me quite a few suggestions to have a better life. I want to be successful, happy, love what I do and where I live. I have a new manual to fix my old life and bring life back into it. Thank you for allowing me to read this e-book!

[Note : Video Review of the book using the text of this review can be found here :) ]

Win Fast By Siimon Reynolds reveals some cutting-edge techniques that one can apply quickly to be more productive, disciplined and healthy. Once the suggested methods are applied regularly and become a habit then one can achieve high levels of success both in personal and professional life.

Today Continuous learning is a need of hour. You need to keep yourself updated with new knowledge to reach higher levels in your career. Is it possible to improve yourself quickly ? within minutes ? The author says yes. As per him most performance breakthroughs occur in a moment, in an instant. A second in time when suddenly a new way is realized. A decision to change is made, or knowledge is discovered that changes your whole game forever.

This book reveals cutting -edge techniques you can apply quickly to achieve more, earn more, and be more. The results of it will also be visible to you in weeks if not days. In short, This book is about achieving uncommon levels of success, uncommonly quickly.

Where to apply the learning from this book ?

The book provides methods, procedures and systems to help you succeed in four primary arenas :
1.) At Work
2.) In you Personal Life
3.) With Your Health
4.) Inside your mind

What are the prerequisites from the author before you start reading this book ?
The author requires two things from the reader if they want to achieve some tangible and remarkable results :
-- You must apply what is suggested in the book immediately.
-- You must keep an open mind. Some of the concepts in the book are truly radical.

Lets go over some of the techniques that the author suggests in this book.

1.) USE A TIMER ALL DAY
What kind of errors do ineffective people make that reduce their productivity ? think about it.
The author says that such people make three critical productivity errors.

-- Before they start they do not estimate how much time it will take.
-- They work slowly and at the end of the day they don’t achieve much.
-- They allow people, emails and phones to interrupt what they are doing.

Making just one of these errors is enough to greatly reduce your productivity. If you are making all of them then you will never be able to achieve a high level of results.

The Author here suggests to use a timer method. It’s super simple and very effective. Here is how it works:
1.) Whenever you have a task to do, estimate how much time it is going to take.
Shorten your estimate by 20 percent.
2.) Next, find the timer on your mobile phone, set the alarm and begin working on the task.
3.) Do not allow any break and interruptions unless it's an emergency.

The author says that if you apply this method just once you will be amazed at how effective it is .

You are clear about how much time you have. You push yourself to get the job done quickly and without any interruptions. And you immediately increase your productivity.

2.) DO A PERSONAL PERFORMANCE REVIEW EVERY NIGHT

People work hard each day but often keep making the same mistake again and again. This limits the results of their progress and success. Is there a way to limit or completely overcome this loss ?

Compare this with the behaviour of a top sports man. Do they make the same mistake again and again ? After every performance they sit down and evaluate every aspect of their performance.

We should have a similar attitude. The author says that - I find it extraordinary that many people say that they want to perform at the highest level but do virtually no analysis of their own performance.

The author says that it can hardly take three minutes to carry out an effective performance review every day, per day. At the end of the day simply ask two question to yourself -

1.) What did I do well today ?
During this, you need to give credit for the things that went right.

2.) What could I have done better ?
Either it was a good day or a bad day thing about what can be done better in the future.

If something went wrong then do not curse yourself and if anything went well then think about how to take that to the next level.

Make it a habit to ask yourself these questions every day before you go to bed.

3.) GET AN ACCOUNTABILITY PARTNER
No Matter how successful we are, we are all human. At times we get lazy, we give up on our cherished goals. We perform at a lower level than we aspired to reach. One of the main reasons we get away with doing this is because often there is no one watching and evaluating our performance.

The author here recommends here one accountability partner. An Accountability partner is someone you have to report back to regularly on your progress. They could be a friend that you respect, an associate with experience in your field or even a professional business coach. Both of you should commit to a meeting or phone call at a regular interval with the primary topic being whether you did what you promised you would do the last time you spoke. You can create a series of standard questions that your partner can ask you in each meeting or phone call.

It’s a fact that we all get better when somebody is watching. Accountability lifts everybody’s performance, in any field. If you are dedicated to being best in your area of expertise you must get someone to keep you at your best, stretch you and cajole you to improve in the areas that matter most to you.

We discussed only three such techniques in this book but this book has almost 80 such techniques that you can immediately put in practice and can see the results immediately for some of them. For some of them it may take a few days to fully see the results but you almost all of them can be applied immediately.

Finally the verdict, This book comes from an author with 30 years of experience in performance management and that reflects in each of the chapters of this book. There are around 80 chapters in this book representing 80 techniques and almost all chapters are 2-3 pages which makes this very usable where you can go to any chapter of your like and read it in a few minutes, grasp the information and quickly implement it in your life. that‘s it. This book is easy to put into practice. The book also has a chapter where the author gives examples of solving a few specific challenges by combining multiple techniques of this book together. The author also suggests sharing the techniques that worked for you with your loved one.

~Believe in your ability to change.~

A very quick read with one quote per page. There are also a little bio on Buffett. Still very worthwhile as a reminder of a good way to actually invest rather than playing the market.
