I'll comment to this book in English, for most of the readers will understand that better than Dutch.

I bought the book out of curiosity. First of all the question if I would be mentioned in any form or not. Secondly a kind of peeping Tom idea, since I know the woman who wrote the book, as I do her husband and son. I visited them quite a few times during my stay in Tbilisi: I was part of the Dutch community there.

Now about the book. I Liked it, but it gave me not the same kind of 'now I remember!' effect that Wendell Steavensons book did. I don't know why, maybe it is the style of writing, I don't know. Although she wrote about my period there too, I wasn't as cought by the story (of her life) as I had expected.

I also had the feeling that she withheld things from her readers. She is a nice woman, but I miss the real person Sandra in the book, I miss depth (or honesty?) in real thoughts, I found it too sweet, knowing the circumstances, the country and the general character of Georgians and especially Georgian males.
