We had planned for Renée to be with us last year for Dollface but it didn’t work out so finally, we bring you the fab Renée Rosen!
Our friend Erika Robuck, Author had this to say, “Rosen skillfully charms, fascinates, frustrates, and moves her readers in this turn of the century tale. Set on an epic historical stage, What the Lady Wants: A Novel of Marshall Field and the Gilded Age contains all of the hedonism, decadence, success, and tragedy of the great American novel.” ———————- In late-nineteenth-century Chicago, visionary retail tycoon Marshall Field made his fortune wooing women customers with his famous motto: “Give the lady what she wants.” His legendary charm also won the heart of socialite Delia Spencer and led to an infamous love affair. Renee Rosen, "What the Lady Wants: A Novel of Marshall Field and the Gilded Age"
The Great Chicago Fire of 1871 left the city in a state of dismal disarray, destruction and depression. In an effort to rebuild and restore the society, culture, and economy, powerhouse moguls bred from the impenetrable classes of American Royalty took to the streets building major department stores which would eventually give way to hosting the famous World’s Fair of 1893. Quickly becoming the epicenter of national progression, Chicago blossomed into the “Gleaming White City”, a world that author Renée Rosen explores in What the Lady Wants.
Renée Rosen is the author of Dollface and the young adult novel, Every Crooked Pot. She lives in Chicago where she is at work on a new novel.
