Rosewarne writes about sexual perversions - that is, deviations for a very narrowly conceived sexual norm. She does not see the term 'perversion' as negative, but rather sees it as defining an act that is outside of a very limited range of sexual expression (vanilla sex being deemed sex missionary style, predominantly for procreation only). Her use of this term is a bit grating at times, given that it carries a negative connotation (which she notes).

Positives: I found her premise intriguing: the idea of managing perversions in a society that defines them as such but does not define them clearly nor enforces them definitively. Her idea that perversions form a part of most people's lives - along a spectrum, ranging from very traditional sex to full 'perverted' acts such as bestiality - is interesting as it highlights the very central place pop culture plays in our daily lives in the first world.

Negatives: I found her writing style uncomfortable and her use of punctuation very irritating (and incorrect). Her structuring of each chapter and each section left much to be desired in my mind. This produced a rather confused and at times chaotic sense of what she was talking about, detracting from her argument. She also didn't explain terms as explicitly and concisely as she could have, again adding to a feeling of confusion and irritation on my part.
