This short book by Tirthankar Roy is interesting in that it presents us with a few different aspects of the East India Company. The focus is on the company's founding and its transnational nature. He also highlights aspects of its internal conflict, such as company management and how it allowed individuals to practice private trade.
His coverage of the transformation to a ruling, imperial enterprise is superficial, as in the concluding chapter analysis. I believe he drew a few incorrect conclusions. Read the book for the first few chapters.

He could have done better.
