Summary: This book is for helping children learn the sounds of letters in the alphabet. For each letter there is a poem and a picture.

Personal Reaction: I found this book interesting because I even learned something from it. It is easy to believe that as an adult you know all of the sounds that a letter makes, but I never realized that the letter "Y" makes an "I" sound in some cases. It just comes naturally. I would have never told a kid that off the top of my head. One complaint I have about this book is that it is not in alphabetic order. It is just kind of all over the place. I also think that some of the words that they use as examples are not very clear with the sounds and kind of complicated for a beginning reader. I do enjoy that this book is double the size of a regular book.

Classroom Extension: This book would be great for a group phonics lesson. You can go through the book as a whole or have a letter of the day to focus on. This book could also be incorporated in a poetry unit as an example of how to write a simple poem.
