Bert Sugar is a personality, not a good writer. this anthology of short pieces about those boxing greats he figured the public would like too ....this isn't a good book, there's no thoughtful input, there's nothing that didn't come of the press releases...don't bother. Go work a light bag for a while, you'll get more endorphin rush.

Bert Sugar has been a mainstay of "The Ring
" magazine for a good long time, as of 2013. He's not AJ Liebling, Albert Payson Terhune, or Jose Torres or Norman Mailer. His list of the ten greatest fights is not the ones I would have chosen. but he does have the bout records of the fighters mentioned in his text.

I love NYC and trivia, and so looked forward to this book. It was very disappointing. There were a lot of omissions. It looked like there was no fact-checking.

Don't bother with this one.
