Have you ever been ticked off by someone taking to long in the grocery store line? Has someone made you wait while they decided which cafe latte they wanted? And…to put the shoe on the other foot, have you ever got in a fast food line and hemmed and hawed about what you wanted to order? Have you ever fumbled around at the ATM for your debit card? At the pharmacy? This book will make you think twice…maybe.

Time Killer by Todd M Thiede is one of those books that is hard for me to rate. It had so many things I love in a suspense/thriller…an unhinged killed, lots of bodies falling, danger and tension making me have to know what happens.

It looks like this is the second book of Todd M Thiede’s writing career and his first Max Larkin Detective Series novel, so I can forgive some of the things that bothered me. The writing seemed to be loose, at times too quick to pass over what is happening. I would have loved to have more details about a couple of events, more details on the characters feelings about what transpired. But, all in all, well done, Todd. I would definitely read more of your work.

I flipped flopped between 3 and 4 stars, and when that happens I up it, so…………

In the small town of Rockton there is a murderer who kills people that wasted his time. Detective Max Larkin and Jesse Fairlane, his new partner, are in charge of investigations.

I enjoy reading this book. It's an easy read and it have a very interesting storyline. It looks bad to say, but the best part of the book is about the crime scenes and the details of the killing.

I don't recommend it for mystery fans. Why? Because the poorly written characters affect the story in the end. I didn't like the detectives. They are unrealistic and there is something wrong with their dialogue, it felt forced at times.… (mais)

Life is good for Detective Max Larkin, he’s riding on a high after solving an important rape and murder mystery (Miss Me?). What’s more, he is very happy with life, he has been asked to join the FBI, and to top it all, is in love with a wonderful woman.

As the book opens he is about to attend a TV interview in Chicago.

However, the interview doesn’t go quite as expected, and he finds himself targeted by a killer who is out to kill everyone he loves. The killer is very clever, his revenge on Max is out there, on the internet, and there are dire consequences if Max doesn’t play ball…

As the grizzly death toll grows, the murders are carries out in unspeakable ways, egged on by the powers of the social media.

The author has paid great attention to detail, which makes this book not for the faint hearted. It has a gripping storyline, great characters, incredible attention to detail, and a plot which will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very last page.

Although part of a series, the Detective Max Larkin crime thrillers can all happily stand alone.

I thoroughly enjoyed this no-holes-barred, exciting psychological thriller and would like to highly recommend it.

Wow, a true thriller that actually kept me anxious, and physically on the edge of my seat! I started with this book, and didn't feel like I missed a beat, but I am defiantly checking out Todd Thiede's other books, next on my list is the first Max Larkin story for sure!

Without giving away too much, this book has it all. Mystery, thrills, murder, great detective work, and an amazing plot twist. The killer is very unexpected, and will give you chills. I know a lot of people say that, but Thiede does it perfectly.

From the very first scene we see the first victim waking to find himself in binds, you can feel his anxiety, confusion, and pure fear. Then come the detectives Max and Jessie, amazingly written, and the dialog and relationship between them is so real. Everything is kept at a pretty fast pace, and keeps you wanting more.

I will be waiting for more of Max Larkin in the future. His character is a hero, but has real life flaws most of us can identify with. The stories themselves are fantastic, but the amazing character development is the cherry on the top. Kudos to Todd Thiede on Lies to Die For!

One warning, make sure you have a few hours set aside when you pick this up, you won't put it down until it's finished...guaranteed. A true page turner!
