Oliver would like his hero Tito the Bonecrusher to help him out in some way. His parents are divorced and after a bad business choice his father is stuck in Florida and will have to go to jail. Tito is a lucha libro wrestler turned action star who solves all the problems in his movies with his favorite catch phrase “never quit trying.” Together with his friends Brain, short for Brianna, and Paul, Oliver comes up with a plan to convince Tito to help get his dad out of jail. It’s a coincidence that Tito will be in town for a fundraiser that Oliver’s Granny Janet also will attend to receive an award. Oliver and his friends just have to come up with $600 to buy two plates at the fundraiser. Oliver never knew two plates could be so expensive and what will the food cost ? Maybe selling celebrity photos with forged signatures can help. Fans of “The terrible Two” and “Diary of a wimpy kid” will like this middle grade reader. There are no illustrations it has a similar humor level.
There is a lot of white space around the text blocks but the typeface is small.
