Sherwin Tjia

Sully lives in a hipster neighborhood in Montréal, but doesn't identify with the dominant culture. He's not a hipster, he's just the "hipless boy", caught between two relationships and coming to terms with his (occasionnally cross-dressed) life as a graphic artist. The stories in this collection are short insights in Sully's mostly uneventful life, pranks and conversations with his colorful friends Minerva the bisexual private-school dropout and Owen the happenings artist.

Apart from the truly gorgeous illustrations, what redeems all these relatively flat stories is the subtile way in which they touch on deeper, broader subjects, such as sexual identity, coming of age, social inequity or even teenage suicide. Intimist, sweet and a delight to the eyes, Sully's stories leave the reader with a desire to read more.… (mais)
