Vegas is the setting, specifically heavily Mob-influenced Vegas. A TV producer with a shady background of his own back in the Midwest deals with mobsters, blackmail, fast women, and snoopy reporters. Of course this is totally fiction, and there are no real people anything like this.

We listened to this in the car...and finished it mostly because we don't like not finishing books. The premise was interesting, but the writing isn't great. I kept yelling "show, don't tell!" I was completely disappointed by the ending - the fictional main character is just left hanging. He wasn't an incredibly well-drawn character, and some of his later actions were completely unbelievable, but I still wanted a resolution.

It wasn't the worst book I've ever read, but I'm confident that there are better-written ones out there on the same subject.… (mais)

Not a great mafia book. The only other mafia fiction I've read is from Mario Puzo though so maybe I've got too high of a standard. The characters were bland. There was no suspense. Nothing that really drew me into the story.
