Even though this story is kind of twisted when it comes to how the step mother treats the children, I really like the book. It teaches children not to wander off alone and not to talk to strangers, since you never know what their intentions will be. Luckily these children were able to escape the witch. I love that the book is very colorful and you can really picture yourself in the setting. The author does a great job describing the Witch's home as if you could see and taste it yourself. For example, "The roof was dripping with icing, the windows were framed with candy canes, and the garden was filled with lollipops."… (mais)

I really enjoyed reading Hansel and Gretal for two main reasons. First, I loved the bright vibrant colors that were on every page. The way the illustrator drew the witch’s candy house looked so delicious you could imagine the taste of it. Second, I loved the large bold font it was super easy to see and it flowed nicely throughout the book.
The big idea of the book is to never go into a house without knowing the person. This can lead to kidnapping as shown in the book.
