This is a very simple graphic novel and Jewish children sent to London at the beginning of WWII. The poor girl's name is mis-pronounced, and some of the people "helping" her don't really care about her as a person at all. She writes her mother and hopes someone will sponsor her mother for a job and they'll be together again.

An important story to tell, but the poor lettering was distracting and the story a bit garbled. I think the book is intended for a younger audience but there is very little exposition or explanation to actually teach readers new to the subject about the historical period.

I enjoyed the golem subplot of Chabon's Kavalier and Clay and love the golems in Pratchett's Discworld. It was good to read a well-written version of the original story. This good book handles the history of the Prague ghetto and weaves in the magic in a compelling way.
