Remanence: Confluence, Book 2 por Jennifer Foehner Wells
Although I am not as big a fan of this novel as I wanted to be, it is good enough that I will read the next series Wells produces—if she ever decides to move on from Confluence, the fifth volume of which came out in 2018. In Remanence, I enjoyed the shifting point of view and the changes of voice that it generated. It is fun to watch linguist Jane and her crew and the squid-like alien that has adopted them try to understand each other. Once the novel morphs into a planetary adventure, I found it less compelling.… (mais)

There are several sub-genre titles this novel would fit under, I choose any and all. It needs a wide audience because it is: Inventive, Fun, Engaging, Surprising, Humanist, Science-based, Complex, other words that aren't coming to me right now -- and it ends well! And THERE WILL BE MORE!
It was the feel of this story that drew me in, but it was the characters that sold it. I didn't get that the protagonist will be a villain in a later work, I only know that from Jen. I find that very interesting. :) WILL READ MORE.
Best contemporary Science Fiction
I was astounded at this author's world building. Smells came through the strongest with tactile secondary. Each book builds upon the last until, when you reach the end of whatever you are reading and look up, WOW, you aren't in her world anymore. MUST READ.
